With the methodical steps of a ballerina, a tricolored heron proceeds to slowly spin and twirl through the swamplands, wings poised in a graceful instinctive manor. Tricolored herons remain some of the most creative hunters utilizing a technique known as canopy feeding. Efforts to shade the water in hopes that fish will swim into the shadows result in a calculated dance that is quite beautiful to observe.
